Schomburgkia-Cattleya hybrid with bright red blooms. Ideal for mounting and for landscaping in tropical and subtropical zones.

Grown from seed so plant and flower characteristics vary from plant to plant. Some plants take after their Cattleya parentage—e.g. shorter bloom spikes, larger but fewer flowers. Others produce longer bloomspikes with several mid-sized flowers shaped like those of a Schomburgkia/Myrmecophila. The plant pictured is an example of the latter group.

Orchid Care: Grow in high light and moderate humidity. Plants can be acclimated to some direct sun. Grow potted or mounted. If grown potted, use an open, free-draining media and a pot with ample drainage (e.g. a heavy-bottomed clay pot with many holes). Otherwise, grow bare root in a wooden basket or mount on driftwood or similar. The roots of the plant should dry thoroughly between waterings.
