Cattleya amethystoglossa
Cattleya amethystoglossa
Mericlone (‘XXX’) and seedlings (‘XXX’ x self). See explanation of plant availability.
The large, blooming plant pictured is a stud plant from our collection (‘XXX’ mericlone).
Plants Available: Growing in various pot sizes.
4” Pot: This option is a mature plant from our selfing of ‘XXX’ (C. amethystoglossa ‘XXX’ x self). Grown from seed, so flower characteristics will vary somewhat from plant to plant (e.g., color saturation, spotting). Blooms from three plants in this group are pictured to illustrate this variability.
4” Pot - Lg: This option is a larger version of the C. amethystoglossa ‘XXX’ x self. The 4” Pot - Lg ‘XXX’ x self is a fuller plant with more directions of growth.
5” Pot: This option is a blooming-size individual of the ‘XXX’ mericlone.
6” Pot: This option is a mature plant from our selfing of ‘XXX’.
Grower’s Note: C. amethystoglossa is a bifoliate Cattleya species that is susceptible to heat stress. This can manifest as markings on the underside of some foliage (example pictured), which are generally understood to be innocuous cosmetic imperfections.
Orchid Care: Grow in bright light and high humidity. Plant must dry out between waterings, but will dry quickly in the hotter months of the summer. Daily watering may be necessary in the summer, depending on the potting medium used.
Note: Do not repot, mount, or divide plants before they have put out new growth and roots. Plants disturbed outside of their growing period often decline.
