Dendrobium anosmum (4N)
Dendrobium anosmum (4N)
Syn. Dendrobium superbum
Fragrant, spring-blooming Dendrobium species, native to the Philippines and New Guinea, and widely distributed throughout much of southeast Asia. Typically flowers in March/April.
Plants are grown from seed so flower characteristics may vary. However all plants so far bloomed from this grex have produced purple flowers with a dark throat similar to the bloom pictured.
Plants Available: Growing in clay pots, hanging. Examples of the two sizes available are pictured. Orders will be filled with plants in bud or bloom as blooming season and blooming stock permit.
Orchid Care: Grow in bright indirect light with good air circulation and moderate to high humidity. Water heavily while plants are in active growth (spring through early fall), but give plants a dry rest during the cooler months. At the nursery, we reduce watering from about Thanksgiving through the beginning of March. While your timing may vary, water should be gradually increased after buds develop.
Note: This is a deciduous variety. Expect leaves to yellow and drop during the dry rest period.
