Classic B. nodosa cross, great for mounting and in landscaping, easy to grow and bloom. Plants reach blooming size in 2” pots and can bloom twice a year or more.

This nodosa hybrid blooms in clusters of star-shaped yellow flowers that may be heavily or lightly spotted. Blooms range in color from light to dark yellow and bear pinprick red spots on the petals and/or lip. Flowers often have a blush cast in bud and as they first open and become more golden as the blooms age.

Our Bc. Yellow Bird are seed-grown, so flower characteristics will vary from plant to plant. Compare the blooms pictured here for an example of these variations.

Plants Available: Growing in 2”, 3”, and 4” pots. Examples of various sizes are pictured. The 2” Pot - 2-Pack option is a pair plants, each potted in 2”. Orders will be filled with plants in spike/bud/bloom as blooming stock permits.

Orchid Care: As for nodosa-types. Yellow Bird can be acclimated to direct sun, though plants will benefit from some shade during the hottest hours of the day. Makes a great addition to a subtropical yard, e.g. mounted on a palm whose fronds provide some cover from the sun at midday. Mounted plants require daily watering to establish and near daily watering (or rain) throughout the summer.
